Since the end of 2015 the artist-run space mo.ë located in the 17. district of Vienna is struggling for its existence. This struggle is also raising questions about the role of art, artists and art-spaces within a changing city. In a scene between subculture, counterculture and emerging art, yet the struggle to keep a space raises unexpected questions: (How) should we play with legislative texts? How to create places where different interests can be visible at the same time? What formats of communication can be developed in order to mediate a complex story? And most importantly: How to ensure that a group not only formulates political demands but works together in a way that creates new structures instead of recreating the ones they try to replace?

Stephan Trimmel as a part of Verein Einander focuses on the personal interactions between refugees as individuals and activities as circumstances. The Verein provides different facilities as basic workshops modules that enable to make, repair or create something basic on a small scale. The aim is to support motivation and intentions on a daily basis. The focus relies on creating a constant circumstance in which social beings can freely create, tinker and apply their skills - or just simply chat during a cup of coffee or tea. A process oriented project that is working with and not for people.
